This class is designed as a first racing experience for a young sailor and continues to build on the experiences of Intermediate.  Opti Green introduces racing in a low intensity environment that prioritizes sailing skills over competition. The class is separate from the Opti Race class but meets with them.

• Some sailors may be invited to join the Opti Race class during the season if they are ready.

• The class will compete in all NBYA Opti Regattas. Expect about 4, 1 day events and the 3-day Junior Race Week in the final week of the season. Sailors meet sailors from all of the programs on Narragansett Bay at regattas and begin forming friendships that can last a lifetime.
• Regattas may be on different days of the week than regular class days causing schedule shifts.
• Sailors not wishing to participate in a regatta can join other classes at WSA on regatta days.

• The course meets Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday for 8 weeks.​

We have added a FLEX 7 of 8 weeks option at a lower price to allow families to skip the week of their choice for a family vacation.

We also have 4-week options to accommodate those with limited time availability. However, the 4-week options are only available if there are openings in the class and registration opens on February 15^th, two weeks after 8-week and FLEX. Choose weeks 1-4 or 5-8. Registration for the 4-week programs opens on February 15th.

The 8-week and FLEX programs remain the preferred options.
